Choose what to automate before choosing the tool.

Buffer is the clean first look for queuing approved posts. SocialBee suits a real evergreen library. Make and n8n build custom routes. Hootsuite puts automation inside broader social operations. Emelyn is for the connected strategy-to-learning loop. These are different jobs, not six versions of the same product.

Six automation paths with review gates, error catches, and retry routes

Six tools, arranged by the work they remove.

03

Make

Visual workflow builder

04

n8n

Technical workflow builder

05

Hootsuite

Social operations suite

Emelyn

Content growth loop

Choose it when

The repeated loss happens between strategy, signals, ideas, drafts, publishing, and learning.

Operator still owns

Independent hands-on verification and measured customer stories are still required before this comparison can be indexed.

Current price basis

$0 with no payment method or subscription

Official source

A useful automation test includes the bad day.

Each product receives the same approved question and time-sensitive update. Missing access is recorded as untested, not as failure.

  1. Protect the source

Capture both inputs without leaking private source material into logs.

  2. Route the judgment

Reject one generic draft and send one factual claim to review.

  3. Force the failure

Expire a permission or use a bad asset and inspect the visible recovery state.

  4. Close the loop

Attach the customer action and change one rule for the next run.

The provisional answer.

Buy the smallest automation layer that removes the real repeated work and still makes failure obvious. A queue should not be penalized for lacking strategy. A workflow builder should not be rewarded for a safety system you have not built.
